Basic Handling Skills

For competent riders, our Basic Handling Skills course teaches the 4 parts of the Basic Handling Skills Test, providing practice and feedback, and includes the BHS Test to get your motorcycle licence. Motorcycle hire is available, or provide your own LAMS machine.

Basic Handling Skills

  • Roadsafe’s Basic Handling Skills course not only provides you with training and practice for your Basic Handling Skills test, it also provides essential information, skills and techniques for managing risks and hazards when riding on the road, and sets the building blocks for successfully progressing to your restricted and full licence later.
  • You can provide your own LAMS approved machine which must be at WoF standard, safe and reliable to use.
  • If you are riding an automatic machine you need to provide your own scooter.
  • Can be used as a refresher for riders who have a licence but have had a long break from riding.Roadsafe can provide motorcycle hire (additional cost), with free use of helmet and gloves.

Prerequisite: Riders must already be competently able to ride a motorcycle using clutch and gears to start, stop, turn and change gear. If you have not had this riding experience please book our Learn to Ride course first. Riders bringing their own scooter must be able to competently ride their scooter.
